Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault

What is Sexual Assault?

Sexual assault can be described as any sexual behaviour or contact that takes place without explicit consent from the victim.

Forms of Sexual Assault Include:

  • Fondling or unwanted sexual touching
  • Attempted rape
  • Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetrating the victim’s body
  • Rape

What is Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA)?

Drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) occurs when an individual’s ability to provide consent to sexual activities is compromised through the use of drugs or alcohol. These substances may be administered by the perpetrator in order to commit the sexual assault as they prevent a person’s ability to resist and may impact their recollection of the assault.
